Operation
The high intensity Microb-Blaster has been designed to use pulsed UV light to sanitize almost anything. The high intensity unit achieves a 1-6 log reduction depending on the application. UV light can kill micro-organisms when they are exposed to it for enough time. The rate at which these micro-organisms are killed depends on the wavelength of the light, the intensity, and the exposure time. Teh Microb-Blaster has been designed to kill 99.0% - 99.9999% of all porentially harmful organisms. This unit pulses UV light, which allows the energy to be stored between pulses and then delivered with a flash. The pulsed technology produces a far better sterilization result than the conventional UV lamp because of the higher energy delivery.

Safety

HEPA air from a dedicated blower unit is used to purge the air in the lamp housing, which is necessary for cooling and disbursement of created ozone. If the supply of product to be sanitized is interrupted, pneumatic escapements and photo-eyes monitor and toggle appropriately so that every unit is properly dosed. The housing is made of a special composite material that encloses all UV light to ensure operator safety. Redundant safety interlocks protect the operator from exposure as well. Please note that looking directly into the light will cause blindness.

Light

The UV light bulb has a life expectancy of 500 hours of continuous operation. Once the lamp has accumulated 500 hours of total operation, a fault is displayed on the operator touch screen, alerting the operator that the lamp requires changing. Lamp output is also monitored by a sensor that alerts the operator if the bulb output should fall below a minimum value before the useful life of 500 hours is up.
